The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Statement from the Revolutionary Government of Cuba on situation in Ecuador
Since this past June 8, the government of Ecuador, led by President Rafael Correa Delgado, has faced, in several cities, acts of violence and calls for the overthrowal of the Citizens’ Revolution government. Oligarchic groups, supported by the media, Internet social networks, and the transnational press are attempting to discredit the legitimately constituted government, generate a crisis, and unleash violence in a stable, peaceful country.

Raúl receives Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission
On June 15, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers received Colonel General Fan Changlong, a vice chairman China’s Central Military Commission and member of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China’s Political Bureau, in addition to the delegation accompanying him on an official visit to the country, at the invitation of Cuba’s Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).

Cuban President Receives Prime Minister of Curacao
Cuban President Raul Castro received the prime minister and minister of general affairs of Curacao, Ivar Asjes, who is visiting Havana, the official newspaper Granma reported on Saturday. A press release says that Raul Castro, president of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers, held a fraternal meeting with Asjes on Friday afternoon. At the meeting, the two leaders exchanged opinions about the development of political ties and the opportunities to further boost trade and cooperation between the two countries, as well as other matters of regional interest.

U.S. agricultural coalition opposes trade and travel restrictions against Cuba
U.S. Agriculture Coalition for Cuba (USACC), an association composed of more than 90 U.S. agricultural companies and state and national organizations committed to normalizing exports of food and agricultural products to Cuba, sent a letter to the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee expressing opposition to any attempt to restrict trade and travel to Cuba, and describing any such measures as detrimental to the nation’s agricultural industry and the future of Cuba-U.S. relations.

President of Liberia thanks Cuba for its role in combating Ebola
Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf thanked Cuban doctors for their role in the struggle against Ebola, yesterday June 14, during a meeting with Salvador Valdés Mesa, a Council of State vice president, who is leading Cuba’s delegation to the African Union Summit. She emphasized that the Cuban brigade worked in the most remote areas, where little infrastructure exists, likewise recognizing the prestige of Cuba’s public health system, education and sports.

Biennial of Havana to Exhibit Works Dedicated to Alicia Alonso
The Cuban plastic artist Jesus Lara exhibited on 17 June at the XII Biennial of Havana a piece dedicated to Alicia Alonso, today announced the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC).
The piece entitled “Odas en azul prusiano” will be located in the Hall of Mirrors at the Museum of the Revolution in the “Irla” show, which describes the 25 years of Lara’s artistic life. “Irla” was opened on May 28 as part of the activities of the XII Biennial of Havana.

High Level Segment of AU Summit Starts
Attended by over fifty heads of State and Government, the high-level segment of the 25th Summit of the African Union began in this capital today. The meeting, held at the Sandton Convention Center was preceded by a set of other encounters that paved the way for the Assembly running today and tomorrow. Cuba is among countries invited to the event with a delegation led by Vice President of the State Council Salvador Valdes Mesa.

Cuban Foreign Minister Meets with US Senators
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez met in Havana on Saturday with US Republican Senators Jeff Flake, Pat Robert and Susan Collins. The meeting between the head of Cuban diplomacy and the US lawmakers was held at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry. The senators, who arrived in Cuba on Friday, visited the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB) and the Cuban Civil Aeronautics Institute.

Cuban Vice President Visits South Africa
Cuban Council of State Vice President Salvador Valdes will visit the Origins Center on Saturday, on the second day of his visit to South Africa. Valdes arrived here on Friday leading Cuba’s delegation to the 25th African Union (AU) Summit, whose high-level segment will be held on June 14-15 at the Conference Center in Sandton, Johannesburg. The Origins Center, in the University of the Witwatrersand, in Johannesburg, holds the history and anthropology of living cultures in this country, internationally recognized as the Rainbow Nation.
