The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Speech by Commander-In-Chief Fidel Castro on his arrival in Havana on 8 January 1959

The people are listening, the revolutionary fighters are listening, and the regular troops – whose fate is in our hands – are listening also. I believe this to be a turning point in our history: the tyranny has been overthrown. The rejoicing is immense. But there is still much to be done. We mustn’t fool ourselves into believing that the future will be easy; everything may be more difficult in the future.

Address by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz at Céspedes Park in Santiago de Cuba, on the 1st of January of 1959

It was being said that today at 2 o’clock in the afternoon we were being expected in the capital of the Republic and I was the first person to be amazed (SHOUTING AND APPLAUSE) because I was one of the first people to have been surprised by that traitorous and confabulated coup this morning in the capital of the Republic.

Message from Fidel to President Nicolás Maduro

It was Chávez himself who came across the idea of creating that organization, for he was willing to share with his Caribbean brothers and sisters the abundant economic resources with which Nature had endowed his home country and which had ended up in the hands of powerful US companies and a handful of Venezuelan millionaires.

Fidel informs about letters exchanged with Maradona

On January 11, Maradona spoke about the letter I had sent him and showed the document that had aroused curiosity but he didn’t mention the details. Last week-end he again mentioned the letter in Telesur. To set things clear, I include the full texts of my exchange with Maradona.
A War With Korea Must Be Avoided

A few days ago I referred to the great challenges humankind is facing today. Intelligent life has been on our planet for around 200,000 years, unless some new discoveries show otherwise. Not to confuse the existence of intelligent life with the existence of life itself which, from its elementary forms in our solar system, came into being millions of years ago.
The Universe And Its Expansion

I respect all religions even though I do not profess them. Human beings, from the most ignorant to the wisest, are looking for an explanation for their own existence.
The Unimaginable

The things that the yogi can do with the human body escape our imagination. They are right there, before our eyes, in the images that reach us immediately from a long distance through the TV program Pasaje a lo Desconocido (Passage to the Unknown).
Food And Wholesome Jobs

The conditions have been created for the country to start the mass production of moringa oleifera and mulberry, which are inexhaustible sources of meat; milk and eggs; silk fibres that can be spun using traditional methods and also allow for the creation of jobs that can be performed in the shade and are appropriately remunerated, regardless of age or sex.
Nicolás Guillén

To your health, Guevara! Or better still, from the very depths of the Americas: Wait for us! We will depart with you. We want to die so as to live as you have died; and live as you live on.
