The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

En la noche de este jueves, el líder histórico de la Revolución Cu bana, Fidel Castro Ruz, recibió a la reverenda Joan Brown Cam p bell, quien realiza una visita a nuestro país invitada por el Semina rio Evangélico de Teología de Matanzas. En la conversación fraternal sostenida, Fidel y la distinguida visitante trataron diversos temas en el clima de una amistad forjada du rante muchos años, y en los que Joan Campbell ha dado innumerables muestras de solidaridad hacia nuestro pueblo.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Vice President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, declared yesterday, June 11, during his remarks to the Peoples’ Summit, that not only is a better world possible, but in fact necessary for the survival of humanity. Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of the Council of State, is heading the Cuban delegation to the 25th African Union Summit, to be held on June 14-15 in South Africa. The Cuban delegation also includes Ana Teresita González Fraga, vice minister of Foreign Affairs; Juan Manuel Rodríguez Vázquez and Carlos Fernández de Cossío Domínguez, Cuban ambassadors to the African Union and South Africa, respectively; as well as other Foreign Ministry officials.

Cuba calls for constructive dialogue between Latin America and Europe

New areas of study next year
During the 2015-2016 academic year, beginning in September, high school students in professional-technical programs (ETP) will have three new options: social work, textiles and spinning. Although enrollment in these areas of study will be available only in the provinces of La Habana, Villa Clara and Holguín, the additions reflect efforts to broaden training available to the country’s future workforce.

CELAC-EU Condemn Blockade to Cuba and Support Colombian Peace Talks
Rejection to the US blockade against Cuba and support to dialog in Colombia were among the main topic in the inaugural address of the Summit of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU). During the inauguration ceremony, European Council President Donald Tusk, announced the blocs decision to promote a trust fund to support post-conflict actions. Tusk praised the peace dialog being carried out by the government of President Juan Manuel Santos and the Revolutionary Forces of Colombia.

Greek Premier To Meet with LatAm Leaders
The office of the Prime Minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras, released the agenda of meetings and interviews he is expected to hold with Latin American leaders in the next few hours during the EU-Celac Summit.
The Summit is to gather for two days in Brussels 60 leaders of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) with the objective to strengthen bilateral political and economic relations.

Kuwait Supports Rehabilitation of Cuban Water Supply Networks
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, has maintained an important cooperation with Cuba in the rehabilitation of water supply networks in several provinces and the capital, according to an official from that institution attending the Cubagua-2015 forum, running here. In conversation with Prensa Latina, the manager of that mechanism for this region, Abdullah Kh al-Musaibeeh, stated that about four cooperation projects are being implemented in Santiago de Cuba, Holguin and Havana.

Havana”s Historic District, Ideal Platform for Biennial
The Office of the Historian of Havana (OHCH), located in the capital”s historic district, is reaffirmed today as a perfect area for the activities of the current 12th Biennial of Havana. That space, located in the heart of Old Havana, has offered almost completely its facilities and galleries and even private homes that since May 22 are used as a special stage for the great event of visual arts. More than one dozen of collateral exhibitions are placed in the historic district, which, according to expert Liset Valderrama, demonstrate the adaptation and versatility of the institution’s spaces for those purposes.
