The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

OAS members to critically examine Insulza´s Report
The report presented by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Jose Miguel Insulza, about the situation in Paraguay passed today to a critical scrutiny by the member countries from that organization. Described as biased and intentionally far from the country’s reality by some Paraguayan politicians and social organizations, the report pretends to alienate any kind of condemnation to the parliamentary coup that removed Constitutional President Fernando Lugo from office. After Insulza’s statements were analyzed by different OAS member governments, a new special regional meeting will be held, to adopt a definitive resolution about the issue.

Russia’s Premier Medvedev meets Cuban President
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has met on Wednesday with Cuban President Raul Castro, who kicked off on Tuesday a working visit to Russia. The Cuban head of state arrived in the Russian capital, Moscow, after touring long-time friends China and Vietnam.

Raul Castro to Begin Russia’s Work Visit
Cuban President Raul Castro will carry out a working visit to Russia as of tomorrow, after a tour that took him to China and Vietnam, official sources reported. According to the note, the statesman will be accompanied by Minister Council Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. Raul Castro will meet with that country’s President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev, and pay tribute to the leader of the Bolshevik Revolution, Vladimir Ilich Lenin, Cuban media reported.

Vietnamese Media Highlight Visit of Raul Castro
Hanoi, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) The media of Vietnam highlighted the visit here of Cuban President, Raul Castro, and his dialogue with the highest national authorities, as a high point in the continuing development of the historical relations and cooperation between the two countries. Newspapers, websites, radio and television still distribute on Monday pictures from the official reception at the Presidential Palace, with an honor guard composed of the three armed forces branches for this country.

Cuba Exhorts at UN to Eradicate Illegal Arms Trafficking
United Nations, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba exhorted at the United Nations to reach an international accord to prevent, fight and eradicate illegal arms trafficking, in which many people and States currently suffer from its negative consequences. Addressing the UN Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, Cuban ambassador to that body Rodolfo Benitez Verson stated that his country will not support any treaty that affects the legitimate interests of the island’s defense and national security.

President Raul Castro Meets Chinese counterpart
Beijing 5 jul (Prensa Latina) Cuba and China noted the excellent state of their relations, discussed extensively by Presidents Raul Castro and Hu Jintao during official talks at the Great Palace of the People, in Beijing. Both heads of state held a private meeting before those talks, also preceded by the official welcoming ceremony to the Cuban leader and his delegation, composed by the Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.

Cuba Calls General Elections
Havana, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s Council of State has called general elections to choose delegates to municipal and provincial assemblies of the Peoples’ Power, as well as deputies to the National Parliament. According to an official note published by Granma newspaper, the call takes place in accordance with provisions of the Constitution of the Republic and the Electoral Law No.72 in force since October 29, 1992.

Beijing, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuba”s President Raul Castro began today an official visit to China, focused on strengthening bilateral relations, through the signing of some cooperation agreements. Belarus´ Lukashenko to hold talks with Cuban President Raul Castro
Havana, June 25, (RHC), — The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is set to hold official talks on Monday in Havana with his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro Ruz. Also on Monday, the Belarusian head of state will pay tribute to Cuba´s National Hero Jose Marti at the martyr´s monument in Havana’s iconic Revolution Square.
