Russia’s Premier Medvedev meets Cuban President

Moscow, July 11, (RHC), – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has met on Wednesday with Cuban President Raul Castro, who kicked off on Tuesday a working visit to Russia.

According to a statement by the Russian government, the talks mainly focused on boosting trade and broadening economic cooperation.

Furthermore, the Russian premier extended the Cuban leader an invitation to the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, which Raul accepted with pleasure, according to a report by the Itar-Tass news agency.

Earlier, the Cuban president kicked off his visit´s agenda with the laying of a wreath of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located near the Kremlin.

Raul is also expected to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

This is Raul’s second trip to Moscow since his 2006 appointment as President of the Cuban Republic.
