The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Iran Demands Serious Efforts by NOAL for Stability in Syria
Tehran, Aug 28 (Prensa Latina) Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi demanded on Tuesday that the Non-Aligned (NAM) countries seriously consider the reestablishment of peace and calm in Syria, and rejected any foreign military intervention in that Arab country. Salehi made his demand at the International Conference Center of the Iranian Television Corporation (IRIB) and at bilateral meetings with visiting foreign ministers.

Cuban Students’ Organization to Celebrate 90th Anniversary
Havana, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuba”s Federation of University Students (FEU) will evaluate its work this week, as part of activities to celebrate its 90th anniversary in December, local media reported on Sunday. The program of actions on the FEU’s anniversary will include all Cuban universities, which will hold social, sports, cultural and recreational events, said the organization’s president, Carlos Rangel, quoted by the newspaper Juventud Rebelde
