Cuban Students’ Organization to Celebrate 90th Anniversary

Havana, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuba”s Federation of University Students (FEU) will evaluate its work this week, as part of activities to ce

lebrate its 90th anniversary in December, local media reported on Sunday.

The program of actions on the FEU’s anniversary will include all Cuban universities, which will hold social, sports, cultural and recreational events, said the organization’s president, Carlos Rangel, quoted by the newspaper Juventud Rebelde. As part of the festivities, the FEU’s National Council will meet in Havana for two days, starting on Wednesday, to debate the students’ academic and research life and the attention to professors in training and university extension.

They will also review the internal work of the FEU, which was founded on December 20, 1922, by Cuban revolutionary Julio Antonio Mella, who became its president the following year.

The meeting’s agenda also includes exchanges with representatives of the ministries to which 68 Cuban university centers are attached, and the schedule of the organization’s elections for the school year that will begin on September 3
