The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Vice President of Angola pays tribute to Cuban internationalists
As part of an official visit to Cuba, Domingos Vicente laid flowers at the Pantheon to Cuban Internationalists killed inAngola. He also toured the Mausoleum located in Havana’s Colon Cemetery, accompanied by Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla, of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, among other members of the organization and government officials.

Cuba, USA to Talk in Appropriate Context, Official Says
The exclusion from the list of country sponsoring terrorism and other reached progresses could create an appropriate context to advance in the restoration of relations between Cuba and the United States, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) said. According to the website www.cubaminrex.cu, the director general of the U.S. division at MINREX, Gustavo Machin, stated that efforts are underway to resume the banking services of the Cuban Interest Section in the northern nation.

Serbian President admires Cuba’s independence
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić arrived in Havana yesterday, May 18, for a two-day official visit, and was received by Rogelio Sierra, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs. Speaking to the press at José Martí International Airport, Nikolić reaffirmed the excellent relations between his country and Cuba. The first Serbian President to visit the island since the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, Nikolić commented that he admires Cuba’s independence and that the friendship between the two countries remains strong. Prior to his election as President in 2012, the Serbian leader served as head of the Parliamentary Friendship with Cuba Group.

Venezuela Implements Measures to Confront Economic War
Venezuela has at the present more than 7,100 people´s councils for supply and production, created to confront the economic war staged by the Venezuelan right-wing, said Food minister Carlos Osorio. According to Osorio, the Government began the creation of those organizations less than a month ago seeking to confront and reduce speculation, hoarding and smuggling of basic products.

Air France Airline Proposes Additional Paris-Havana Flight
Air France airline will propose an additional flight Paris-Havana, with which flights to that destination will increase to 11 per week, it was reported today. The offer will be available as of October this year, according to a statement released by the entity. The company operates a daily flight from the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport in a Boeing 777-300 with a capacity for 468 passengers during the summer season, reinforced by four additional weekly flights in winter 2015.

Cubans, Americans Compete at Havana Coastline
As part of the U.S.-Cuba regatta Havana Challenge in this capital, five Hobbie Cat 16 sailboats are competing today at the Havana coastline in an unprecedented tourist competition for 50 years.
They are very quickly and unpredictable sailboats that will allow more than a sports event, a symbol of friendship between U.S. and Cuban citizens. The arrival this weekend to this capital of the Havana Challenge regatta, in addition of being a challenge to ocean currents, foster friendship, as the organizers from both countries conceive it.

Angolan and Cuban Vice Presidents hold official talks

Serbian President Arrives in Cuba on Official Visit
Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic begins today an official visit to Cuba, in which he will hold talks with the island’s Head of State, Raul Castro.
A note from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during his stay here, Nikolic will develop different activities.Early this month, Nikolic and Raul Castro met in Moscow, where both leaders participated in the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
