Serbian President Arrives in Cuba on Official Visit

tomislavnikolicSerbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic begins today an official visit to Cuba, in which he will hold talks with the island’s Head of State, Raul Castro.

A note from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during his stay here, Nikolic will develop different activities.

Early this month, Nikolic and Raul Castro met in Moscow, where both leaders participated in the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism.

Prior to that meeting in the Russian capital, the two statesmen have already met on occasion of the First Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union, held in Chile in January 2013.

It is worth highlighting that Nikolic’s ties with the Caribbean nation have remained for several years, because as a legislator, he was the president of the Parliamentary Group of Solidarity with Cuba, a duty he played from 2009 to 2012, when he became head of State after winning the presidential elections in his country.
