Venezuela Implements Measures to Confront Economic War

venezuela_carlos_osorioVenezuela has at the present more than 7,100 people´s councils for supply and production, created to confront the economic war staged by the Venezuelan right-wing, said Food minister Carlos Osorio.

According to Osorio, the Government began the creation of those organizations less than a month ago seeking to confront and reduce speculation, hoarding and smuggling of basic products.

“The people´s councils for supply and production across Venezuela must be set on premises of the national supplying network seeking to control public management from there, particularly of foodstuff”, said Osorio.

“These councils will also monitor the quality of services and the internal management of the premises”, said Osorio.

The establishment of these popular organizations was asked by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, as part of an offensive launched against those fostering the economic war.

Maduro recently ruled out any agreement with the Venezuelan right-wing, which seeks to disregard the damages caused by the economic war to the country.
