The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. President Lukashenko Congratulates Cuban Head of State
Minsk, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Raul Castro on Tuesday on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself on his reelection as president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba. “I am confident that, under his leadership, Cuba will continue its decisive and consistent way in order to safeguard the economic and social achievements of the Revolution, defend national interests and moral values in the international arena,” said the president in a message.

Cuban Parliament Constituted in its Eighth Legislature
Havana Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) The Eighth Legislature of the People’s National Assembly was constituted here today after deputies swear to their responsibilities as part of the supreme body of state power that represents the will of the people. In the Havana Convention Center, usual venue of Parliament, those elected in the elections of February 3 presented the certificates accrediting them as members and signed their oaths, with an attendance of 98.37 percent.

Cuba Receives the Pro Tempore Presidency of CELAC
Santiago de Chile, 28 Jan (Prensa Latina) The Head of State of Cuba, Raúl Castro, was granted by Chile the pro tempore presidency of the Communitty of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), at the closure of the First Summit of this integration bloc in this capital. Chileans Support Cuba’s Presidency in CELAC
Santiago, Chile, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) The Chilean Movement of Solidarity with Cuba will support that archipelago in the pro tempore presidency it is assuming in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), with a rally in this capital today. Havana, October 28 (RHC). – President Raul Castro met in Santiago de Cuba with the local authorities of the Communist Party and government to analyze the situation of the province in the wake of devastating Hurricane Sandy on Wednesday. The weather phenomenon left more than 130,000 homes affected, of which 55,000 to total collapse and damage the economy millionaires. Raul Castro to Begin Russia’s Work Visit
Cuban President Raul Castro will carry out a working visit to Russia as of tomorrow, after a tour that took him to China and Vietnam, official sources reported. According to the note, the statesman will be accompanied by Minister Council Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
