Raul Castro in Santiago de Cuba

Havana, October 28 (RHC). – President Raul Castro met in Santiago de Cuba with the local authorities of the Communist Party and government to analyze the situation of the province in the wake of devastating Hurricane Sandy on Wednesday.

The weather phenomenon left more than 130,000 homes affected, of which 55,000 to total collapse and damage the economy millionaires.

The head of state stressed the need to find immediate solutions to the needs of the population and recognized the effort made in the reconstruction.

Before arriving in Santiago de Cuba, Raul Castro visited the provinces of Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus and Ciego de Avila, who also suffered the winds and rains of Sandy. Other affected provinces were Holguin, Guantanamo and Las Tunas, all in the eastern portion of the Cuban archipelago.
