Chileans Support Cuba’s Presidency in CELAC

Santiago, Chile, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) The Chilean Movement of Solidarity with Cuba will support that archipelago in the pro tempore presidency it is assuming in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), with a rally in this capital today .

In remarks to Prensa Latina, activist Pedro Bronzic stated that a rally will be held at Plaza Italia to support the Cuban Revolution, which continues at the center of the international right-wing attacks.

Many Chileans will be there to support Cuba and its Revolution, and to welcome the presidency of CELAC, said Bronzic, who participated these days in the People’s Summit, a forum which was attended by more than 400 social organizations from Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.

Bronzic said that Cuba is an example of solidarity, and “it has been a beacon for the integration promoted by CELAC.”

“The Chilean people cannot remain aloof from Cuba’s pro tempore presidency, because it is vitally important for us to support it,” he pointed out.

The First CELAC Summit concludes today in this capital with a final declaration, an Action Plan, and the handing over of Chile’s presidency of the bloc, to Cuba.

Presidents, politicians and social movements agree that the Caribbean island heading the CELAC is only possible in the current regional scenario, marked by a rise to power of Latin American and Caribbean governments committed to the independence and sovereignty.
