This Tuesday, July 28, across several regions of the world the 61st anniversary of the birth of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez was commemorated. In the Cuartel de la Montaña (Mountain Barracks), where the remains of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution lie, huge numbers of Venezuelans paid tribute to him, according to reports from Prensa Latina.The tribute was led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, who spoke of the figure and the legacy of Chávez.

Caracas, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) The candidate of Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) to the presidency of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, today won the elections to define the head of state in the period 2013-2019. According to the National Electoral Council (CNE), with the result of 99.12 percent of polling stations, the socialist candidate won 50.6 percent of the vote cast (7 505 338 votes).

Hugo was the second of 6 brothers and sisters. He was so poor that his family couldn’t afford to buy him shoes. His grandmother Rosa Inés took him to his first ever day of classes.
