Venezuelan President in Serious Health Condition

Caracas, Mar 5 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’ health condition remains serious with a worsening of his respiratory function, the Minister of Communication and Information Ernesto Villegas said.

In a national broadcast on radio and television from the Dr. Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital, Villegas released a statement yesterday night on the president’s health by instructions from the Executive Vice President Nicolas Maduro.

Prensa Latina is posting below the full text of the statement:

The Bolivarian Government informs the people of Venezuela and other brother countries on the evolution and health of President Hugo Chavez.

Two weeks have passed since the president decided to return to Venezuela, after a surgery performed in Havana, Cuba, on December 11. To date, there is a worsening of his respiratory function associated with immunodepression status of his clinical health condition. He is now presenting a new and severe respiratory infection.

The president has been receiving a high-impact chemotherapy, among other complementary treatments with adjustments resulting from the evolution of his clinical condition. His general health condition continues to be very serious.

The president remains clinging to Christ and life, aware of the difficulties he is facing in strict compliance with the program designed by the medical team.

The Bolivarian Government continues accompanying the sons and other relatives of the President in this battle full of love and spirituality, and call all our people to keep on fighting, unharmed to face the psychological warfare deployed by foreign laboratories with speakers in the corrupt Venezuela rightwing, which seeks to generate scenarios of violence as a pretext for a foreign intervention in the homeland of Bolivar.

The Bolivarian government also repudiates the pharisee attitude of those historical enemies of Hugo Chavez, who always have lavished hatred, insults and disdains, and now seek to use his health situation as an excuse to destabilize the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Fortunately, this people woke up with Comandante Chavez and those corrupt right-wing factors will never come back.

In this hour, unity and discipline are the basis for political stability of the country.

Long live Chavez!
