Cuba Declares Official and National Mourning Due to Chavez’ Death

Havana, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s Council of State declared official and national mourning for the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Prensa Latina is posting the full-length statement of official and national mourning issued by the Council of State.

On the occasion of the death of Comrade Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba has decreed as follows:

First: Declare Official Mourning from 6:00 am on March 6, to 12:00 pm on March 7.

Second: Declares National Mourning on March 8.

During the official mourning, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast on public buildings and military establishments.

During the term of national mourning, all public shows and festive activities will be suspended.
