The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba Holds Second Round of Partial Elections
A total of 1,165 constituencies in 149 Cuban municipalities today are holding the second round of partial elections to elect delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power (councilors). According to the National Electoral Commission (CEN-Spanish acronym), for this occasion 3,351 polling stations have ben set and over a million 250 thousand voters have been summoned to vote from seven o’clock until six in the afternoon.

Results Validated for the First Round of Cuban Partial Elections
To disclose the official results of the first electoral round, the president of the National Electoral Commission (CEN), Alina Balseiro, said the 89.88 percent of voters went to the polls on Sunday to elect delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power (councilors).

Cuba Opens US Basketball Camp
The National Basketball Association (NBA) opened in this capital a sports Camp aimed at supporting the development of basketball in Cuba. Also protected by FIBA America and the local Federation, the event -being part of the Basketball without Border program- will end on Sunday, April 26, and provides a program of clinics and lectures for children, young basketball players and referees.

Russia, Cuba Seek to Speed up Trade, Diversify Cooperation
The Russian and Cuban governments are seeking today to give new impetus to the economic and trade relations with opportunities of trade and investments in great joint projects, within established interaction mechanisms. Almost six years have passed since the two countries signed a package of more than 30 agreements and memorandums in 2009, and ratified the strategic nature of ties between Moscow and Havana.

New York Governor Considers Productive Visit to Cuba
Governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo described today as productive and mutually advantageous his two-day visit to Cuba accompanied by some 20 businesspeople. Little before his departure this afternoon, Cuomo said he will do everything within his reach to achieve lifting the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the U.S. keeps on the island for more than half a century.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez described as “extremely profitable” the official visit to France that concluded yesterday, as part of a tour of Europe. Rodriguez met on Monday, April 20, with French Minister of Finance and Public Accounts, Michel Sapin.
