The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba a Main Destination for Russian Tourists
Cuba has hit record figures as a favorite destination for Russian tourists, with nearly 72,000 visitors so far this year, according to Cuban tourism officials in Moscow. At least 71,849 Russian tourists have visited Cuba this year, 139.96 percent over 2010 and 208.71 percent over 2009, the head of the Cuban Tourism Office for Russia and East Europe, Estefania Escobar, told Prensa Latina.

Cuban Filmmaker Ian Padron Receives Glauber Rocha Award
Cuban filmmaker Ian Padron said it was an honor to receive the Glauber Rocha 2011 award, which carries the name, he said, of one of the filmmakers he admires the most. Rocha was one of the most important Latin American filmmakers, and the father of the new Latin American cinema. ¿The award also has a special meaning for me. I was born the same day of the creator of Entranced Earth and God and the Devil in the Land of the Sun,¿ said Padron.

World Champ Debuts in PanAm Games
The 16th Pan American boxing tournament will begin Friday, when one of the best boxers in Latin America, Brazilian Everton Lopes, now the World Champion in the 64-kg division, will make his debut.
