The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Chavez Calls to Unmask Neoliberal Project of the Opposition

Caracas, Sep 1 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez urged his followers to unmask the opposition project, which seeks to impose neo-liberal economic policies in this country. During a meeting with workers from different areas in the sports center José María Vargas, located in this state, the president said that this is one of the major responsibilities to be assumed by workers and youth, among other sectors.

Tehran, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro thanked the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) today for its vote of confidence in the Bolivarian Republic as host for the 2015 meeting of heads of state. Speaking at the XVI summit meeting that is concluding today in Tehran, Maduro said location of the next meeting in Caracas will take place at a particular historical moment amidst a renewed desire for emancipation of the developing nations.

Yesterday, the Cubans made 20 runs to beatcomfortably the Dominican 20-11, as did Mexico, second in the tournament, who won Colombia 3-0.

MERCOSUR Summit to Make Venezuela’s Membership Official

Brasilia, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Venezuela will make Caracas’ membership in the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) official at an extraordinary summit of the regional bloc at Planalto Palace on Tuesday. On July 4, 2006, the then presidents of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay agreed on Venezuela’s membership in MERCOSUR.

Presidents to Attend MERCOSUR Extraordinary Summit in Brazil

Brasilia, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez, Uruguay, Jose Mujica, and Venezuela, Hugo Chavez will arrive today to Brasilia to participate in a MERCOSUR Extraordinary Summit, scheduled for tomorrow, with their Brazilian colleague Dilma Rousseff. The top meeting of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) will formalize Venezuela’s entry into the regional block, six years after it was passed that membership, but had failed to materialize by the refusal of the Paraguayan parliament.

Chavez’ Economic Lesson for Europe

Thousands of Proposals for New Venezuelan Labor Law

Some 11,500 proposals were submitted to Venezuela´s Cabinet Commission to draft a new Labor Law or LOT (Ley Organica del Trabajo), said Wil Rangel, President of the Central Bolivariana Socialista de Trabajadores. Rangel said unionists, Legislators and representatives of private and public sectors will submit and discuss until April their initiatives in national assemblies to rescue the social benefits “smothered during the government of Rafael Caldera”.

President Chavez presented his annual report on activities carried out in 2011 and his program for 2012 to the Venezuelan Parliament.
