The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Venezuela Denounces Opposition Plans to Ignore Elections
Caracas, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) The First Vice President of the Venezuelan United Socialist Party (PUSV), Diosdado Cabello, denounced opposition plans today to disregard the results of April 14 presidential election. The also president of the National Assembly said that the right-wing is becoming increasingly desperate as their election defeat approaches and are as a result moving on to another agenda.

Venezuelan Armed Forces to Guarantee Secure Elections
Caracas, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) will ensure security at Venezuela”s presidential election on April 14, through the deployment of 141,000 troops, officials said. Major General Wilmer Barrientos, head of the FANB Strategic Operational Command said that mobilization will begin on April 9, prioritizing sites with difficult access. The military, in coordination with the various police forces and the National Guard (GNB), will be present in 23 states and the Capital District, he said in statements to Venezolana de Television.

Presentation In Memory Of President Chavez
Hugo was the second of 6 brothers and sisters. He was so poor that his family couldn’t afford to buy him shoes. His grandmother Rosa Inés took him to his first ever day of classes. Hugo wore a pair of alpargatas that she had made out of soft cloth and rope. But the kindergarten teacher would not allow the little boy into the class, until the family could find a way to buy him some shoes. President Chávez remembers he had no toys as a boy and said that he made do by playing with his brother, Adán, imaginary games using imaginary toys: imagen that.

Nicolas Maduro to Take Oath as Acting President of Venezuela
Caracas, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) Only few hours after the conclusion of the State funeral services of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, Executive Vice President Nicolas Maduro will be sworn in as an acting president of the South American country. This was expressed by National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, who explained that such decision was imposed to Maduro to call for elections within 30 days.

National Mourning in Cuba for death of President Hugo Chavez
Havana, March 8, (RHC), — With a National Mourning and a 21-gun salute will continue today in Cuba the tribute to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frías, who died Tuesday in Caracas. The 21-gun salute will be performed at 10:00 AM local time in the fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña in Havana, the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces said.
