The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Africa embraces the Five
The Five Cuban Heroes were received with expressions of love and admiration during their first tour of Namibia, after a 10-day visit to South Africa, stopping in five of the country’s provinces: Gauteng, Free State, Limpopo, KwaZulu Natal and Western Cape; and before heading to Angola. Founding President of the Republic of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, embraced the Five at his home in Etunda, where they spoke for half an hour.

Carlos Ricardo Pérez Díaz, director of the Cuban medical brigade – part of the Henry Reeve Contingent specializing in natural disasters and large-scale epidemics – currently working in Atacama, Chile, agreed to respond to some questions from Granma International. Working as a resident in Havana and Internal Medicine specialist for over 15 years, Pérez Díaz noted that the brigade is coping well.

Solidarity with Cuba in Venezuelan Fine Arts
Caracas, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) Solidarity with Cuba finds space today in the Venezuelan Fine Arts through the exhibition Three Great Leaders of America, with works that pay tribute to Simon Bolivar, Cuban national hero Jose Marti, and Commander Hugo Chavez.
The Caracas Museum hosts the exhibition of three dozen works by 23 artists from different states of the country, in an action that is part of the 7th Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, scheduled for July 24 to 27 in the capital.

Bolivia Hosts Congress of Solidarity with Cuba
Condemning the US blockade of Cuba and supporting the campaign to free the Cuban anti-terrorists jailed in the United States are the main goals of the 11th Congress of Bolivia”s Solidarity with Cuba. As of today, some 250 guests from every Bolivian department, plus 30 counterparts from Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, are present in this 48-hour event in La Paz.

Speech at the official lunch hosted by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during his state visit to Brazil
I am extremely pleased to be in Brazil today on an official visit as I promised our friend President Lula, a visit that is intended to further strengthen the historic relations between our peoples. The ties of brotherhood between Cuba and Brazil have continued being reinforced throughout the years, enriched by a cultural identity which emanated from our roots. The only thing missing in this human closeness was the increase of the economic ties which multiplied under Lula’s government.
