The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

A better world is not only possible, but necessary
Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Vice President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, declared yesterday, June 11, during his remarks to the Peoples’ Summit, that not only is a better world possible, but in fact necessary for the survival of humanity. The event coincided with the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)-European Union Summit, also held in Brussels.

Salvador Valdés Mesa heads Cuban delegation to the 25th African Union Summit
Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of the Council of State, is heading the Cuban delegation to the 25th African Union Summit, to be held on June 14-15 in South Africa. The Cuban delegation also includes Ana Teresita González Fraga, vice minister of Foreign Affairs; Juan Manuel Rodríguez Vázquez and Carlos Fernández de Cossío Domínguez, Cuban ambassadors to the African Union and South Africa, respectively; as well as other Foreign Ministry officials.

New areas of study next year
During the 2015-2016 academic year, beginning in September, high school students in professional-technical programs (ETP) will have three new options: social work, textiles and spinning. Although enrollment in these areas of study will be available only in the provinces of La Habana, Villa Clara and Holguín, the additions reflect efforts to broaden training available to the country’s future workforce.

Pele Visits Havana for a Friendly Match
The famed Brazilian ex-footballer Pele arrived here with the club New York Cosmos, which will hold on Tuesday a friendly match with the national team at the Pedro Marrero Stadium. Pele and the leader of the visiting team, the Spanish footballer Raul Gonzalez Blanco, were hailed by journalists and the public late-night while leaving the Jose Marti International Airport.

Lebanese business people traveled today to Cuba very optimist of expanding trade horizons during official meetings and an economic forum that will be used prior their participation, for the first time, at the Havana International Fair. Resuming of Iberia Flights to Cuba Boosts Tourism
With the announcement today of the resumption of flights to Cuba, Iberia airline”s reinforces the progressive trend of tourism in the island, that has already accumulated a year over three million visitors. The flights of the Spanish transport company were suspended two years ago, and the new version of these trips will bring five times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday).

Japanese Art at Havana Biennial
Many Japanese avant-garde artists will participate in the 12th Biennial of Havana, where last year they celebrated 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first samurai in Cuba.
