The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Thousands of people in Europe protest energy crisis due to sanctions against Russia

Thousands of people in various cities of the old continent took to the streets to reject the energy crisis caused by the sanctions against Russia. And it is that Europeans seem unwilling to pay for the geopolitical decisions of their leaders. More than 32,000 Austrian citizens marched against rising prices for fuel, electricity and food. Meanwhile, the French and Italians also spoke out against the negative effect of the restrictions.

Direct air routes between Cuba and Russia announced from October

Russia and Cuba from next October 1 will once again be connected by direct air routes, which will reach the poles of Varadero and Cayo Coco, the tour operator Pegas Touristik reported. The entity detailed through a statement released by the Russian Tour Operators Agency that the program of flights with tourist packages is organized in association with the airline Nordwind Airlines. He also added that the destination of the Cuban resort of Varadero will be the first to be available to vacationers from the Eurasian nation, with a frequency of four per week, on the Moscow-Varadero route served by Boeing-777-300ER aircraft, with estimated travel time of 13 hours.

Anti-Cuban maneuver in the Organization of American States defeated

Party Political Bureau member and Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla posted a tweet yesterday, July 28, noting the defeat of a U.S. sponsored anti-Cuban maneuver in the OAS, rejected by the majority of member countries. A call for a meeting made by the United States to the Organization of American States (OAS) to “analyze the situation in Cuba,” no doubt to justify interference, failed miserably due to the refusal of the majority of its member countries.

Cuba thanks Russia for humanitarian aid

July 25, two An-124 aircraft landed at Havana’s José Martí International Airport, carrying 88 tons of food and a million medical facemasks, as part of a donation from the Russian Federation. Party Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla posted a tweet thanking Russia for a humanitarian donation that arrived in Cuba aboard two aircraft July 25.

Russia urged to avoid foreign meddling in Cuban affairs

The vice president of the Council of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Kosachev, highlighted today his country’s repeated call to avoid interference and external pressure on the problems Cuba faces. Speaking to Radio Sputnik, the Senate leader emphasized that most of the economic and social hardships that Cuba and its people are going through are associated with more than 60 years of the US blockade.

Cuba condemns interference in Russia’s internal affairs

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Monday condemned Western countries’ interference in Russia’s internal affairs and reaffirmed his solidarity with Russian authorities. Russia denounced the provocation orchestrated by the West, particularly the United States, after supporting protests organized by followers of opposition blogger Alexei Navalni, prosecuted in two court cases, in several cities of the country.

Cuba and Russia look to the future of bilateral relations with optimism

Russian-Cuban links have a long, fraternal history. Exchanges between our peoples dates back to the 18th century, when in 1782 the Russian doctor Fyodor Karzhavin arrived in Havana. After living in Cuba for two years, he came to agree with many of the principles that would later motivate Cubans to struggle for their independence from the Spanish colonial power. Official contact between Russia and the Republic of Cuba began in 1902, laying the foundation for bilateral relations between the two countries.
