The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba treats 800 children from Chernobyl

The island was one of the first nations to respond to the tragedy and offer help in the form of rehabilitation treatment to those affected, the majority children. Cuban doctor Julio Medina, coordinator of the program, reported that to date the Cuban government has provided treatment to some 24,000 children.

Russia Denies Presence of Troops in Southeastern Ukraine

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, denied today the alleged presence of Russian troops in the Ukrainian southeast, in response to repeated accusations by President Petro Poroshenko. I see no need to repeat such unfounded allegations without anything concrete or evidence, commented Peskov recent statements by Poroshenko during his visit to Germany that about 11 thousand Russian troops remained on Ukrainian territory, despite the Minsk agreements.

Putin Prioritizes Keeping the Pace in Modernization of Armed Forces

Staring today, Russia is working with prioritized indicators to modernize its armed forces types, as directed by President Vladimir Putin at a meeting yesterday with senior military and industry representatives. During the meeting held in Sochi, the president said that towards the end of this summer every military body must meet the planned parameters of modernization of its armament, and defined the corresponding figures, according to the TASS news agency.

Russia Warns about Rise of Neo-Nazi Movement in Europe

Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov warned today about the rise of neo-Nazi movement in European countries, which he described as an “evident threat”. In an interview with Russia Today International television channel, Ivanov said “In the Baltic countries, in Ukraine, the Nazis march openly: carrying torches, Nazi symbols, for all to see”. Moscow is very concerned with the inaction of the local authorities, who do not even try to put an end to this, he added.
