The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

The Emergence of a New Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban 5

In a packed community center in Takoma Park Maryland, Latino activists and supporters launched a new committee dedicated to the freedom of the Cuban Five. The launching of the committee coincided with the “5 days for the Cuban 5” campaign taking place in Washington DC this week. The occasion was marked by the participation of the head of the Cuban Interest Section, Jorge Bolaños. Also attending was Jose Pertierra, the attorney for the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in their quest for the extradition of terrorist Luis Posada Carrilles.

U.S.activists kick off International Meeting of Solidarity with the Five

Washington, April 19, (RHC), — Meetings with senators and other officials at the U.S. Congress in Washington marked the first day of activities of the International Solidarity Meeting for the Cuban Five.The multinational meeting of solidarity with Cuba and its five counterterrorism fighters held in the United States since their arrest in 1998 is organized by the International Committee to Free the Five.

Cuban Antiterrorist Fighter Authorized to Travel Home

Havana, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) Judge Joan Lenard, of the South Florida Federal District Court, approved the motion to travel to Cuba presented by the attorney for Rene Gonzalez, one of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons. Lenard, who has been in charge of the trials of Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, authorized the latter to pay a two-week visit to Cuba to see his brother Roberto, who is seriously ill.

US Court yet to Respond Rene Gonzalez Request to See Ailing Brother, Lawyer Says
