The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

What do you know what terrorism against Cuba?
Standing before a powerful photograph of an interminable line of devastated but strong Cubans paying their respects to the 73 people killed in an act of terrorism, in October of 1976, on a civilian aircraft which was downed by a bomb placed aboard by paid assassins, who later lived and died unperturbed in the United States, I ask the U.S. government: Do you know what terrorism is?

Soberana 02 clinical trials expanded
Expanded phase II B clinical trials of Cuba’s anti-COVID-19 candidate vaccine Soberana 02 with volunteers between 19 and 80 years of age, began at the 19 de Abril and No.1 Polyclinics, in the Havana municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución and La Lisa, respectively. For the purpose of evaluating reactions, safety and immunogenicity of the candidate, created by the Finlay Vaccine Institute, volunteers will receive two doses of the drug, administered intramuscularly.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel reiterated Cuba’s unwavering solidarity with the Bolivarian, Chavista people when he received the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, January 16, leading a government delegation on a working visit to our country. Trump Administration Announces More Measures Against Cuba A Few Days Before Leaving the White House
The Administration of outgoing President Donald Trump announced on Friday sanctions against the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) of Cuba, one more of the unilateral measures recently adopted against the island. Without presenting any evidence, the pretext for this action is the alleged responsibility of the minister of that portfolio, General Lázaro Álvarez Casas, in alleged violations of human rights, a pretext that the US Government uses repeatedly to justify its actions against countries that do not they surrender to its dictates.

What are the new rates for water and sewer service?
The new rates for services associated with the supply of water and sewerage have generated diverse opinions in the population. Many comments in Cubadebate suggest the need to correctly measure consumption, as well as reduce leaks and increase control so that this natural resource reaches homes efficiently. In the midst of a tidal wave of rate increases in Cuba, the Higher Organization for Business Management (OSDE) for Water and Sanitation announces new rates for hydraulic and sewerage services. Although it exceeds the multiplication table used for other products, an increase of 700 percent for drinking liquid, historically almost given away the service, continues to be laughable: the bills will reach between just 1.75 and 21 pesos per month per inhabitant, no more .

Six hundred and fifty new Covid-19 cases reported in Cuba
Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Health of Cuba, reported 650 new cases of Covid-19 during his daily press briefing on the course of the pandemic in the country. Duran explained that 10,946 tests were processed in the 18 Molecular Biology laboratories in Cuba on Saturday. Forty-six patients are in intensive care, of them 11 in critical condition and 35 reported in serious condition. Regarding pediatric cases, four children are in serious condition but stable, and there is one infant in critical condition.

Cuba registers first perceptible earthquake in 2021Santiago de Cuba, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s network of stations of the National Seismological Service on Saturday registered the first perceptible earthquake in 2021, with a magnitude of 3.9 and 35.5 kilometers southwest of Caimanera, province of Guantanamo. The telluric movement, located in the coordinates 19.712 of north latitude and 75.285 of west longitude, occurred at 08:19 in the evening and 24 kilometers deep, with reports of perceptibility in Santiago de Cuba city and in Niceto Perez, Caimanera and Guantanamo municipalities.
