The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Chapeando: Red Florida

I like nothing less than starting our podcast with what is happening across the street, but today everything revolves around something that cannot be underestimated due to the weight it has in international politics. And by the sign it bears. We are talking, of course, about the mid-term elections, held this Tuesday in the United States, to elect 36 governors and renew the House and a third of the Senate. At the level of the Union, the red tide so announced by the Republicans, which did take place in nearby Florida, the base of the political forces that support the Cuban counterrevolutionary industry, remained wishful thinking.

Chapeando: Culture, donations and contrasts

“We are going to win, we are going to win…” sings Nsila Cheche, starting our podcast. The cajon touch sounds with the invincible optimism of the Cuban, who in the worst moments laughs and dances, scaring away the bad omen. Well chosen musical greeting to the Day of Cuban Culture. And also the celebration of the date by artists and intellectuals, who did not go to a theater to celebrate themselves. They walk through the towns of Pinar del Río where Ian’s winds took away the roofs and the souls of many people.

Cuban media denounce new violent acts financed from the United States

What would happen if any country in the world paid money to provoke terrorist acts and sabotage in the United States? Their spokesmen would come out immediately to impose their democracy by cannon. But in the case of Cuba, their actions are very different. Those who pay to unleash violence and chaos in Cuba act with total impunity from US soil. They allocate considerable funds to finance terrorist acts within Cuban society, without any foreign authority ruling on the matter.

Another one of the blockade: the United States forces European passport holders who visit Cuba to request a visa from that country

Europeans and Cubans with dual nationality who have traveled to Cuba must apply for an entry visa before visiting the United States, according to the provisions of the Government of that country. Citizens of the European Union are usually exempt from a visa and only need an entry permit that they can request at line in the portal of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA, for its acronym in English).
