Concerned leaders and activists in the United States have issued an urgent call in the Sunday edition of the New York Times, demanding that Biden temporarily lift sanctions and allow Cuba to purchase urgently needed supplies for reconstruction after Hurricane Ian. Biden needs to act right now to help the Cuban people. Hurricane Ian caused great devastation. The power grid was damaged and the electrical system collapsed. More than 50,000 homes have been completely destroyed or severely damaged.

Another one of the blockade: the United States forces European passport holders who visit Cuba to request a visa from that country

Europeans and Cubans with dual nationality who have traveled to Cuba must apply for an entry visa before visiting the United States, according to the provisions of the Government of that country. Citizens of the European Union are usually exempt from a visa and only need an entry permit that they can request at line in the portal of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA, for its acronym in English).

China reiterates call to US to lift blockade against Cuba

China on Monday reiterated its call to the United States Government to immediately and completely lift the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed against Cuba, after highlighting that it is a global claim. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday called for the people’s unity in the face of destabilization attempts, and ratified the commitment to move forward despite adversity. On his official Twitter account, the president recalled a phrase from National Hero Jose Marti: ‘Men go on two sides: those who love and found, and those who hate and undo,’ and assured that Cuba ‘will continue founding.’ In another tweet, Diaz-Canel pointed out that when the people have come so far in the realization of their dreams, they cannot be stopped by violence or hatred.

Russia urged to avoid foreign meddling in Cuban affairs

On speaking online at the Ministerial NAM Conference, the foreign minister warned of the threats and actions in violation of international law undertaken with the purpose of ending the sovereignty of territories.
