The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Process to Restore Ties With US Is Going Well, Says Raul Castro
Cuban President Raul Castro said today that the process of re-establishing ties with the United States is going well, but we are setting ”our own pace”. Castro said that US President Barack Obama has the executive power to submit to the Congress – as he already did- the order to exclude Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List. The deadline to deal with that matter is met in a few days, said Castro referring to Obama’s decision to exclude Cuba from the list, and announced that then they will move on to appoint each country ambassadors.

Support for Cuba at the UN Makes Headlines
Havana, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) Media in many countries today are highlighting the condemnation from the UN General Assembly against the U.S. blockade of Cuba, with 188 countries in favor of ending this policy. Newspapers, radio stations, TV channels and news agencies are publicizing the support received by Cuba as well as the speech delievered by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, about the economic, commercial and financial siege maintained by Washington for more than half a century.

UN Condemns US Blockade on Cuba for 21th Time
United Nations, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) For 21st consecutive year, the UN General Assembly reaffirmed its call for the lifting of the fifty-year long US economic, comercial and financial blockade on Cuba. The demand is container in a resolution approved by the top UN body by 188 votes in favour, three against (the United States, Israel and Palau) and two abstentions (Marshall Islands and Muicronesia).

Cuban Foreign Minister at UN for Vote Against US Blockade
United Nations, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez arrived in New York today to attend tomorrow a session of the General Assembly to vote a new resolution against the US blockade. Rodriguez, who was welcomed by Cuba’s permanent member to the UN, Pedro Nunez Mosquera, will speak at the top world body’s plenary.
For the 21th consecutive year, the General Assembly will vote a document titled “Necessity of Ending the US Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed on Cuba.”

Mexican Businessmen Condemn US Blockade vs. Cuba

Cuba Denounces U.S. Actions against Brands
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday denounced new U.S. actions against Cuban trademarks, a position that threatens the protection of industrial property.
