Mexico, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) Mexican business people condemned today the U.S. government”s blockade against Cuba, in a statement in which they also expressed their solidarity with the people of the Caribbean island.
The Mexico-Cuba Bilateral Committee said in a letter addressed to Cuban ambassador in this country Dagoberto Rodriguez, whose unjust policy the Cubans have faced for 52 years, which has been the main obstacle for the economic and social development of the country.
This group of Mexican businessmen states that they fix their complaint during the next presentation at the U.N. General Assembly of a draft resolution expressing the need to end that economic, commercial and financial blockade.
The note, signed by the chairman of this Committee, Jaime Torres, notes that the anti-Cuban measure also affects the people of Mexico for their marked extraterritorial nature, a violation of international law, and those international trade regulations.
This U.S. action, far from diminishing, has been strengthened, as evidenced by the strengthening of the persecution of third country’s entities that establish or intend to establish economic, commercial, financial and scientific-technical relations with the Caribbean nation, he continues.
The document concludes: explicit and robust are the examples of the damages set out in the draft resolution against the blockade presented at the U.N. highest body, a text that as in the previous 20th occasions will have the support of a vast majority of countries.
According to Cuban authorities, the economic damage caused to the island’s people by the blockade until December 2011, has cost $1.066 trillion dollars, considering the depreciation of the U.S. dollar against the value of gold in the international market.
