Professor Ronaldo Veitía arrived in Havana and will be treated at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital

veitia-2-580x391Ronaldo Veitía, a worldwide judo personality, returned to his homeland from Spain on Monday, where he remained hospitalized due to health problems. Upon his arrival, he thanked the island’s authorities for the support offered.

At his own request, he is already in Havana, where he was received at the José Martí International Airport by Dr. Pablo Castillo Díaz, director of the Institute of Sports Medicine, who welcomed him on behalf of the Cuban sports movement and people.

Speaking to Jit, Castillo recalled that Veitía fell ill during a family visit to Spain. There he was treated. Based on the health situation presented, the Inder collaborated with his return to the country and will guarantee his medical care together with the Ministry of Health. He will be treated at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital.

Ihosvany Veitía, son of the emblematic coach, accompanied him from Alicante to Havana. He emphasized that his father has a happy smile since he learned of his return to the homeland.

“My dad is proud of his Cubanness. I want to thank all the efforts made by Inder, the Cuban government and its consulate in Spain, for the rapid processing of everything and for the support they have given us to have him here”, he stressed.

Upon his arrival, Professor Veitía received the affection and admiration of the Inder officials and the workers of the capital’s air terminal.
