Diaz-Canel receives President Evo Morales

díaz-canel-y-evo-morales-580x331The President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, Thursday night received the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales Ayma, who made a brief stopover in Havana, on his way to New York, to participate in the commemoration of the International Year of Indigenous Languages ​​convened by the United Nations.

During the fraternal meeting, the two leaders noted the excellent state of bilateral relations and prospects for their further development. They discussed recent events in the region, reiterating unwavering solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and President Nicolás Maduro Moros, and agreed on the importance of defending the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

President Morales expressed his solidarity and that of the Bolivian people with victims of the tornado that hit Havana, and denounced U.S. threats to implement Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

Juan Ramón Quintana Taborga, minister of the Presidency, accompanied the distinguished visitor, while on the Cuban side, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla was also present.
