fidel hollandeYesterday afternoon, May 11, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, conversed with the honorable François Hollande, President of France, who is making an official visit to the country.

During the meeting, Fidel and the distinguished guest dialogued, in an amicable, cordial manner, about the historic ties between Cuba and France, as well as a number of important issues on the international agenda, including the prevailing complexities and challenges.

Fidel thanked President Hollande for being the first French head of state to visit the island, and commented that one of the first books he read as a high school student was an extensive text on the French Revolution, although, he said, at that time he didn’t much understand the importance of political studies and the complexities of historical studies.
