The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba takes gold in Pan American cycling championship
Led by Arlenis Sierra, Cuba gave a perfect performance on the last day of the Pan American Road Cycling Championships in San Juan, Argentina. Finishing the 80 kilometer race in a time of 1:58:30, the 25 year old athlete took first place on the podium, joined by teammates Iraida García and Marlies Mejías, who occupied second and third, respectively.

Cuba Will Organize the Terry Fox Race next Saturday
Cuba will organize the Terry Fox Race on Saturday at the same time throughout the country at 10:00 local time, revealed today Carlos Gattorno, director of the Marabana-Maracuba project. According to Gattorno, the trekking race will be participatory so no categories will be announced nor will there be awards and once again, the Radio Reloj radio station will take the start.

The results achieved by Juan Miguel Echevarría and Yorgelis Rodríguez saw Cuba place seventh among participating countries at the World Indoor Athletics Championships; as one of the 13 nations to win a championship title and 12 to secure two or more medals. Roel Santos: I never give up or tire
Just as happened to Alfredo Despaigne in Santiago de Cuba, Roel Santos was rejected at the provincial sports academy for being “too small,” despite some spectacular fielding in his debut for the school team. The “problem” of his size to one side, the young boy who a year before, at the age of nine, was brought by community sports facilitator Juan Luis Yuri to the Academy in the neighborhood of Miramar, shone on the field.

25 years of Club Hemingway
Cuba’s Hemingway International Yacht Club (CNIH) has organized a varied program of activities to celebrate its 25th anniversary, May 21.
Festivities began today, May 18th, with a 25th anniversary Regatta featuring some 200 boats, which could be seen from the Havana Malecon around 11:00am.

Six Cuban baseball players to feature in Can-Am League
Yurisbel Gracial, Lázaro Blanco, Miguel Lahera, Alexander Ayala, Julio Pablo Martínez and Yordan Manduley will join the ranks of teams from the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (Can-Am) League, which kicks off May 8 through the first week of September, as part of a collaborative initiative between the Cuban Baseball Federation and the aforementioned organization.
