President of Portugal begins state visit to Cuba

“This visit is proof of the strengthening of political, economic, and cultural relations between Cuba and Portugal,” stated President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on arrival in Havana, October 25, where he was received by Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations, Rogelio Sierra.

He was followed by a speaker from Thailand, representing the Group of 77 +China, who expressed concern given the accumulated damage to the Cuban people caused by the blockade over many years, adding that President Obama could do more.

Cuba: House Building Modules Given Free to Affected Baracoa People

More than 100 construction modules were delivered free to people in Baracoa, whose houses were totally destroyed by Hurricane Matthew which ravaged the eastern tip of the island. The module consists of 500 tiles, nails, pieces of wood, cement, sand, and they are distributed in the areas of the center of the city of Baracoa, to offer temporary facilities for all those people who lost their houses and goods.
