The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Raúl congratulates Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo for victory in Nicaragua
Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz congratulated Daniel Ortega and his running mate Rosario Murillo, for their presidential election victory in Nicaragua, this past Sunday November 6. “Dear Daniel and Rosario, I congratulate you for this great electoral victory. Our America can continue counting on you to advance efforts to obtain justice and prosperity for our peoples, and the so-necessary integration of Latin America and the Caribbean” Raúl wrote in a message shared by Cuba’s ambassador in Nicaragua, Eduardo Martínez.

A young Cuban of our times
My conversation with Dr. Enmanuel Vigil Fonseca was a pleasant one. His commitment to helping create a better world place him on the front line of important battles and show that young Cubans also have the chance to help build the Revolution. In this regard he notes, “I chose to become a doctor to help people. My parents had other jobs and ever since I was a young boy I have felt admiration for these people in white coats, who lovingly care for the sick.”

Productive exchanges between British and Cuban teachers
AN interest in learning about the Cuban educational system marked the visit to the island October 22 – 28 of a delegation composed of primary and secondary school teachers from the UK. The National Union of Teachers (NUT) delegation visited primary, secondary, music, sports, and special education schools in Havana and Pinar del Río, where they presented several donations, including musical instruments and a Braille machine.

Latinoamericano Stadium turns 70!
The Grand Cerro, now the Latinoamericano, or simply the Latino, stands majestically as the continuator of Cuba’s baseball history in its predecessors, the centenary Palmar de Junco in Matanzas, and other capital city venues like Almendares Park and the Tropical, currently known as the Pedro Marrero.
