The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Declaration from Cuba’s Revolutionary Government
What has occurred in Brazil is part of the reactionary counter-offensive launched by imperialism and the oligarchy against revolutionary and progressive governments in Latin America and the Caribbean, which threatens the peace and stability of nations, violating the spirit and letter of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed by the region’s heads of state and government during the 2nd CELAC Summit, held in January of 2014 in Havana.

Blockade must end if Cuba-U.S. relations are to advance
While Cuba and the United States have made important progress over the last 17 months, economic and commercial relations continue to be hampered by the blockade which remains in full force despite modifications, the Ministry of Foreign Relations (Minrex) reported yesterday, May 12, in a press conference.

Cubans 60 years of age and older reach 19.4% of the population
Cuba ended 2015 with an estimated population of 11,239,004 inhabitants, only 727 people more than last year, for a growth rate of 0.06 per 1,000, according to the National Statistics and Information Office’s Center for Population and Development Studies, published on the website www.onei.cu.

Cuba eliminates acute hepatitis B in children
As a result of a universal vaccination program, no cases of acute hepatitis B in children under five years of age have been reported in Cuba since 1999, and none in those under 15 since 2006, according to Gustavo Sierra González, scientific policy director for the state enterprise group BioCubaFarma.
