The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Canadian medical donation arrives in Cuba

Toronto´s ‘Juan Gualberto Gómez’ Association of Cuban Residents on Saturday made a donation of medical supplies to Cuba´s Holguín health centers for preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. On Facebook, the Canadian association announced Saturday afternoon the arrival of syringes, gloves, medicines, face masks, bandages, gauze and disposable gowns, among other necessary medical supplies, at Holguín´s ‘Frank País’ International Airport.

Cuba temporarily suspends cash bank deposits in U.S. dollars

As a result of measures associated with the asphyxiating U.S. blockade of our country, the Central Bank of Cuba announced the temporary suspension of cash deposits of U.S. dollars in Cuban banks, as of June 21, 2021. “This is a measure meant to protect the Cuban banking and financial system, which applies only to U.S. currency in cash, not existing accounts in this currency. Deposits of U.S. dollars in accounts held by individuals and legal entities are not affected by this measure in any way,” the Central Bank announcement states.

Masks and swabs made in Cuba

Young faces can be seen behind the protective shields and face masks of workers also wearing gloves, white or blue gowns and cloth booties. The hygiene protocol is strict, because they are watching over the humming automatic equipment that produces 40 face masks a minute. President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez yesterday afternoon received Minister of Health of the Republic of Kenya His Excellency Mutahi Kagwe, who is conducting a working visit in our country. During the cordial meeting, both leaders highlighted the positive state of relations shared by the two countries and welcomed the recent signing of agreements for the provision of health care services, as well as the training of doctors from that African nation in Cuba.
