The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba maintains its commitment to solidarity and international cooperation for the benefit of the region’s peoples
“As we were 17 years ago, Cuba is among you,” Communist Party of Cuba First Secretary and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, in a message posted on Twitter, on the occasion of the 19th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Treaty, which is in underway in the Venezuelan city of Caracas. “200 years after the legendary Battle of Carabobo, Our America continues to bet on integration,” he wrote, and congratulated President Nicolas Maduro.

Silvio Rodríguez speaks out
Profound and passionate, Silvio Rodríguez, troubadour and symbol of the revolutionary Cuba that has inspired so many generations of progressive and leftist fighters in the world, has once again sent a message in support of just causes, this time through an interview with the Mexican newspaper La Jornada. The artist spoke about music and politics, and focused most of his comments on an effort he supports: the campaign advocating the Nobel Peace Prize for the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics.

Fidel is the compass
On June 30, 1961, the last day of a series of meetings with Cuban artists and intellectuals, Fidel delivered a speech that would become a cornerstone of revolutionary cultural policy. A large group of writers and artists responded to a call from the leadership of the revolutionary government to present their opinions, air concerns, clarify questions, resolve problems and address issues related to literary artistic creation and its promotion. This was the first of three meetings; the last would take place in the venue itself on June 30.

Disappearance of socialism is a premise of US policy towards Cuba
The United States’ policy against Cuba is based on the axiom that Cuba’s socialist system must disappear or be modified, Cuban academic Santiago Pérez pointed out the eve at the International Security Conference. In the event that concluded this Thursday in Moscow, the researcher considered that for the White House, the existence and the example of the island questions its hegemony in the Americas and over the world. ‘Although Cuba does not represent a military threat to the national security of the United States, it is a political and ideological challenge,’ he warned.

Foreign Minister of Cuba arrives in Venezuela for ALBA-TCP summit

The visit of the head of Cuban diplomacy to the South American nation takes place after the diplomatic triumph conquered by the island in the UN General Assembly, where the international community expressed its overwhelming rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.

Cuba presents UN resolution demanding an end to U.S. blockade
Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla arrived this past Saturday night in New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly vote against the blockade, originally scheduled last year, but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For more than 28 years, the international community has expressed its rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, describing it as a flagrant violation of International Law and the United Nations Charter, and as the main obstacle to the development of the Caribbean nation.

The world reacts to Cuba’s demand: 184 nations against the U.S. blockade!
The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approves the resolution “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”.With a vote as impressive as all those on other historic occasions, the Cuban resolution demanding an end to the blockade was approved this Wednesday in the United Nations General Assembly by 184 votes in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions. Colombia, Ukraine and Brazil abstained; while the United States and Israel opposed Cuba’s demand.
