Cuba has not renounced economic growth of approximately 6%

Despite the ravages of the blockade and the impact of COVID-19, Cuba has not renounced economic growth of approximately 6% in 2021, reported Alejandro Gil Fernandez, deputy prime minister and head of Economy and Planning, in an update on the economy’s performance in the first four months of the year. He pointed out that the Gross Domestic Product declined in 2020 on the order of 11%.

Clinical trial of candidate vaccine in pediatric age group begins, with strict protocols observed

With the vaccination of the first 25 volunteers in the 12-18 age group, Phase I clinical trials in pediatric ages of the Soberana 02 candidate anti-COVID vaccine developed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV) began yesterday, June 14. Cuba begins Covid-19 vaccine clinical trial in pediatric ages

Cuba has begun on Monday phases I/II of the clinical trials of its Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus Covid-19 vaccines on Children and teenagers, with two doses of the former and one of the later. Approved on June 10 by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED), this trials that will take place at the Juan Manuel Marquez Pediatric Hospital in Havana will be sequential, open and adaptive for three to 18 years of age.

Family avoids mental fatigue associated with Covid-19 in Cuba

Professor Olga Esther Infante, from the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, explained that the term ‘pandemic exhaustion’ is perceived by the Cuban family, a concept coined by the World Health Organization in reference to a state of fatigue, lack of motivation and apathy. Infante specified in a televised conference that this lack of motivation leads to a relaxation of personal self-care and increases the risk of contagion, as well as affectations among group members such as irritability and manifestations of anxiety that can generate conflicts.
