The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

ECLAC forecasts a complex period for Latin American economies
The Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) outlined a complex period for the region’s economies in 2017, although she welcomed a return to modest, but positive, growth. Responding to questions from Prensa Latina, Alicia Bárcena explained that an increase in U.S. Federal Reserve interest rates and rising commodity prices are expected for 2017.

Cuba sees over one billion dollars in tourist revenue in first half of 2016
On November 10, Cuba’s National Office for Statistics and Information (ONEI) reported tourist revenue amounting to over 1.2 billion dollars in the first half of 2016, a 15% increase as compared to the same period last year. According to the ONEI the figure only includes revenue from institutions affiliated with the Ministry of tourism, that is to say, excluding private businesses.
