The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuban Foreign Minister will participate in the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament and in the High-Level Segment of the Human Rights Council
The Cuban Foreign Minister will participate virtually in the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament, which will take place this Monday, 22 February 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland. Cuba’s participation in this event corresponds to its commitment to the international disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control regime. Cuba was elected in October 2020 as a member of the Human Rights Council for the 2021-2023 period, supported by 88% of the UN members, represented in its General Assembly.

Cuba reports 1,039 Covid-19 new cases and five deaths
The national director of Epidemiology at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), Dr. Francisco Duran, reported 1,039 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths over the last 24 hours. At his regular press conference on television on Sunday, Dr. Duran explained that 18,156 PCR tests in real time were made to detect the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.

Cuba seeks to grow 23 percent in bioproducts
Cuba is striving this year to manufacture 6,255.72 kiloliters of 18 types of bioproducts, accounting for a 23-percent growth compared to previous results, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG). Such a figure will benefit 690,000 hectares of crops, 100,000 more than in 2020, MINAG specified. The use of bioproducts makes it possible to substitute part of chemical fertilizer and pesticide imports.

Cuba improves health protocols, produces Covid-19 vaccine candidates
Cuba is currently improving its health protocols to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, while producing its most-advanced vaccine candidate, ¨Soberana 02¨, on a large scale, in order to begin phase III of clinical trials in March. During the latest meeting of the temporary working group, it was insisted on the need to speed up the results of the PCR tests.

Cuba reiterates its commitment to a fair and equitable global order
Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated on Saturday the island’s commitment to continue working for a democratic, fair and equitable international order, on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice. Through his Twitter account, he emphasized that the island will insist on this path to respond ‘to the peoples’ demand for peace, sustainable development and justice’.

Cuba expands private sector and advances in creating enterprises
Cuba is making progress in the expansion and perfectioning of self-employment (private sector) and the creation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Deputy Prime Minister Alejandro Gil confirmed. Cuba needs self-employment (private) because it is a complement to the economy, generates quality jobs and allows for productive linkages, Gil, who is also the minister of Economy and Planning, argued.

Anti-Cuban mercenaries make the mistake of believing that Martí has become nothing more than a statue, an appropriate figure to include in their farces, but he has long since come down from pedestals and walks among his people. Just as he is, in his authentic dimensions, José Martí is of no use to their cause. This would require suppressing a good many texts, no longer publishing them.
