The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

THE STORY of the Cuban Five is a complicated one, but that’s not stopping a troupe of child actors from tackling history. The play, “Abracadabra,” speaks to a top concern among Cubans, said Carlos Alberto Cremata, who founded the group in 1990.

On October 15, the first performance of Abracadabra by La Colmenita [The Little Beehive] was held at the Kay Chapel at American University in Washington DC. It was a gorgeous performance, where the public was entertained by its beauty, and moved to tears (just as we’ve experienced in Cuba).

La Colmenita’s First Performance in Washington (+ Video)
La Colmenita’s first performance in Washington DC was extraordinary. The audience began arriving at the Kay Chapel at American University at 5:30 p.m. even though the performance was not to begin until 7. People of all ages arrived along with plenty of children. The chapel filled up. Two young parents with their small children came from New Jersey, driving four hours to attend the event because they’d been unable to see the troupe when it was in New York.

Cuban Children’s Theater Director Responds to Harsh Attack by Prominent U.S. Congresswoman
The director of a Cuban children’s theater group touring the U.S. expressed dismay Tuesday that the chair of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs would use her political power to try and stop them from delivering a message of peace, love and cultural understanding. In a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida) demanded to know why the troupe, La Colmenita, was given visas and whether any taxpayer money was used for the trip. She also called on the White House to end all cultural exchanges between the U.S. and Cuba.
The Two Venezuelas
Yesterday I spoke about the time when Venezuela was an ally of the US empire and the country where Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch carried out their plans for the brutal in-flight bombing of a Cuban plane that caused the death and disappearance of all people aboard, including the youth fencing team that had just won all the gold medals at the Central-American and Caribbean Championships held in Venezuela.
