The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Principal celebration of National Rebellion Day tomorrow, in Sancti Spíritus

Cuban government sends condolences following attack in France
José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Party Central Committee and a vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday July 18, visited the French embassy in Havana to sign the condolences book opened there in the wake of an attack which occurred in the city of Nice, this past July 14, during a celebration of Bastille Day, killing 84 persons and injuring more than 200.

Cuba Demands End of Double Standards and Selectiveness in Human Rights
Cuba issued a call at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday asking that the practice of double standards, selectiveness and political manipulation in the area of human rights come to an end. On the second and last day of a forum on the issue, Cuban representative Ana Silvia Rodriguez lashed out at such practices, describing them as a failure of the old UN Human Rights Commission.
