The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Salvadorian President to Pay Official Visit to Cuba
Salvadorian Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez confirmed today that President Salvador Sanchez Ceren would pay an official visit to Cuba on May 26-27 to make progress in trade and cooperation relations. The foreign minister made the announcement this morning in an interview with the radio station Cadena YSKL. Sanchez Ceren will go accompanied b y around seven ministers, who are expected to be those of Health, Education, Agriculture, Economy, Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Technical Secretariat.

Vice President of Angola pays tribute to Cuban internationalists
As part of an official visit to Cuba, Domingos Vicente laid flowers at the Pantheon to Cuban Internationalists killed inAngola. He also toured the Mausoleum located in Havana’s Colon Cemetery, accompanied by Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla, of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, among other members of the organization and government officials.

Cuba, USA to Talk in Appropriate Context, Official Says
The exclusion from the list of country sponsoring terrorism and other reached progresses could create an appropriate context to advance in the restoration of relations between Cuba and the United States, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) said. Cubans, Americans Compete at Havana Coastline
As part of the U.S.-Cuba regatta Havana Challenge in this capital, five Hobbie Cat 16 sailboats are competing today at the Havana coastline in an unprecedented tourist competition for 50 years.
They are very quickly and unpredictable sailboats that will allow more than a sports event, a symbol of friendship between U.S. and Cuban citizens. Angolan and Cuban Vice Presidents hold official talks

Serbian President to Visit Cuba
Serbian President Tomislav Nikoli will arrive in Cuba on Monday, May 18, to pay an official visit, Granma newspaper reported on Saturday. During his stay in Havana, Nikoli will hold official talks with Cuban President Raul Castro and will participate in other events.

11th ANAP Congress starts today
Important issues such as increased production volumes and their impact on food prices and the economy will be addressed from today until May 17, during the 11th Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP). The proposals to be presented at the event – taking place at the Havana Convention Center with an expected 700 delegates and 150 invited guests – are the result of assemblies at the municipal and provincial level held in recent months.
