I would like to thank Cuba and its health professionals, because it was a great comfort when we heard in the United Nations that you were going to send doctors; this gave us hope, because we knew that we were going to overcome the situation, stated Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, president of the African Union (AU) Commission during a visit to the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) on October 1. Cuba has now become one of the 66 countries to adhere to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of BenefitsArising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity after recently ratifying the agreement before the United Nations (UN).
