The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

US adds popular Cuban debit card to restricted list
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement Monday that Cuba’s military controls American International Services and uses parent company FINCIMEX and other entities to “charge fees and manipulate the remittance and foreign currency market…The profits earned from these operations disproportionately benefit the Cuban military, furthering repression of the Cuban people and funding Cuba’s meddling in Venezuela.

Holguín increases PCR testing capacity
The facility that will house the Molecular Engineering Laboratory, to process PCR test samples in the eastern province of Holguín, is preparing to receive and install the necessary medical equipment. Currently underway at the site, where the laboratory will process up to 1,000 tests in 24 hours, is the required civil construction.

Actions to contain contagions in Cuba
Five thousand two hundred and seventy people had been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Cuba until last September 22, a day in which 48 new positive cases were reported , 29 of them in Havana and 11 corresponding to Ciego de Ávila, a province that continues showing a high spread of the disease throughout its territory.

Second group of volunteers join Soberana clinical trials
Twenty more Cubans joined the short history of Soberana 01, the country’s first candidate vaccine against COVID-19, on September 2, according to reports from Naturaleza Secreta. This group, composed of volunteers between 60 and 80 years of age, is the second to receive the first dose of the much awaited vaccine.
