Cuba Begins May Day Activities With Voluntary Work

cuba-trabajo-voluntarioCuban Labor Federation called to do voluntary work to open activities for May Day, the local press reported today.

The call will first materialize on March 31 and April 1, and it will be intended to do useful and necessary labors for the production and services such as in building projects, agriculture and the sugar harvest, including industrial works as well as planting or cleaning sugar cane. Likewise, the initiative will reach the tourist sector, as well as sanitation and cleaning of institutions and communities.

According to Trabajadores newspaper, this mobilization is dedicated not only to the International Workers’ Day but also to the 46 anniversaries of the Young Communist League and the Pioneer Organization Jose Marti, as well as the Victory of Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs), first defeat of imperialism in Latin America.

The occasion will also serve to show in practical terms the leadership, and the working-class movement and young’s capacity of mobilization.
