25 years of Club Hemingway

Cuba’s Hemingway International Yacht Club (CNIH) has organized a varied program of activities to celebrate its 25th anniversary, May 21.

Torneo HemimgwayFestivities began today, May 18th, with a 25th anniversary Regatta featuring some 200 boats, which could be seen from the Havana Malecon around 11:00am.

There will also be windsurfing demonstrations and a kite surf competition for the public to enjoy.

The Regatta featured young sailors from water sports academies in Ciego de Ávila, Villa Clara, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, and La Habana, alongside youth from the United States, Argentina, and the Netherlands.

A boat parade will take place on Saturday, May 20, led by several schooners which, on entering the bay will be greeted with cannon fire from the Castillo, while the Havana coastline will play host to speedboat and Jet Ski demonstrations.

The official 25th anniversary gala will take place on Sunday, May 21, at 8:00pm at the Hemingway Yacht Club.
