Cuba wins its first game

Peloteros cubanosYesterday March 7, Cuba defeated China 6-0 in its second game of the 2017 World Baseball Classic, underway in the Japanese capital’s majestic Tokyo Dome.

The game remained 0-0 for the first thee innings, with the Cuban team leaving several players on base, without being able to score.

The first runs came in the fourth inning, with four hits, including a triple to center field by Roel Santos, and a double via a line drive to the left by Alexander Ayala.

After losing 11-6 to Japan in its first game, the team led by manager Carlos Martí won their first victory, key to their hopes of qualifying for the competition’s second round, with one victory and one loss in this 4th World Classic.

Cuba will face Australia in a decisive game, Friday March 10.
