Japanese Prime Minister visits Fidel

Fidel y JaponOn September 22, Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz received His Excellency Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan. The distinguished official, leading a delegation from his country, expressed his pleasure on visiting Cuba for the first time to the leader of the Cuban Revolution.

He also recalled Fidel’s visit to Japan and its significance in strengthening the ties of friendship between the people of Japan and Cuba.

In a frank discussion, both leaders commented on the historic relations which unite the two nations and continue to be developed; with the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit contributing to this process.

They also addressed the complexities and dangers associated with the current global situation and the need to strengthen efforts geared toward eliminating nuclear weapons and preserving peace.

Both dignitaries expressed their mutual desire and assurance that Shinzo Abe’s visit would contribute to strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation in the struggle for the health and wellbeing of the peoples of countries with fewer resources.
